About

Hello, my name is Alktra Farhan.

My love for art began when I was a small child in Iraq, encouraged by my mother, who recognized my passion and filled our home with colors and creativity. Even as war reshaped daily life, art remained my constant source of joy and hope.

In 2005 and 2006, while studying to become a teacher at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, I was forced to leave Iraq at just 17 years old after my life was threatened due to religious discrimination and my choice not to wear a hijab. Leaving my home so young changed everything, but art stayed with me, carrying my memories, strength, and sense of identity across borders and into new beginnings.

learned art in many places: drawing at home, studying at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, discovering glass painting through a UN program in Syria, and experimenting with new techniques after moving to the United States. Every chapter added new skills and new inspiration. When I arrived in Nebraska, I finally found the materials I had been searching for and began creating pieces that connected my past with my new home.

Today, I create hand-painted glass pieces, home décor, and custom artwork inspired by culture, imagination, and personal stories. My work is rooted in respect for people of all religions, backgrounds, and cultures, celebrating diversity and shared humanity. Customers tell me they proudly display my art or give it as meaningful gifts. Through community events and teaching opportunities, my art continues to reach a wider audience. Each piece is shaped by my journey and crafted to bring beauty, connection, and understanding into someone’s home.
